Chełmsko Śląskie ((ドイツ語:Schömberg)) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Lubawka, within Kamienna Góra County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Central Statistical Office (GUS) - TERYT (National Register of Territorial Land Apportionment Journal) )〕 Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. It lies approximately south-east of Lubawka, ((ドイツ語:Liebau)), south of Kamienna Góra, ((ドイツ語:Landeshut)), and south-west of the regional capital Wrocław, ((ドイツ語:Breslau)). Following the end of World War II in 1945, the town was placed under Polish administration according to the decisions of the Potsdam Conference, and all remaining German inhabitants were expelled westward〔Franke, p.13〕 and replaced with Polish settlers. The German portion of the cemetery of the Catholic Church was destroyed and up until as recent as 2004 German headstones and grave markers continued to be desecrated.
